Sara & Chase… The Engagement Session | Kansas City Wedding Photographer

Sara and Chase are an awesome destination bride and groom from North Carolina.  Sara and Chase have a “Notebook” relationship; which was the theme of their wedding.  Chase is in the Navy and while he was away at sea, they wrote each other letters nearly every day and they treasure those priceless love notes!

The first time we met Sara and Chase was a couple of weeks before their wedding when they came to town to work on wedding details here in Kansas City.  Even though we hadn’t met before, we felt like we had known them for a long time through all of the conversations we had!  When Sara and Chase arrived in KC the week of their wedding, their e-session kicked off a whirlwind of of preparation and celebration for their big day!  From Union Station and the Kaufman Rose Garden to the West Bottoms,  we had a great time photographing their e-session and we are excited to share it with you!

Here are some of our favorite photos from their e-session…  Stay tuned for the wedding photos!!

Jordan’s Senior Fashion Photo Shoot | Wichita Senior Photographer

For the last three years we have participated in the annual Bill Self Cystic Fibrosis Golf Tournament held in Wichita, Kansas. Along with photographing this awesome event, we also donate a senior portrait session to their silent auction. This year the Goss family won the auction and we had the joy of photographing their daughter, Jordan.

We headed to Old Town in Wichita and found some great locations to show of Jordan’s trendy style and sweet personality! Jordan is a girly girl through and through as well as a very talented athlete. We had a great time getting to know Jordan and we can tell that has she has great things ahead of her! We enjoyed capturing this special time in her life! Congratulations Jordan!

Our Wedding: Kevin & Ashley 8.7.10 ~ Our “Amazing Race” Begins…

As professional wedding photographers, we have seen many gorgeous weddings and receptions.  When it came time to plan our wedding, we had a great time joining the beauty of weddings with our style and the experiences that brought us together.  We put ourselves into every detail of our wedding and it was a beautiful representation of who we are and the love we share for Christ and each other! Our wedding was more amazing than we could have ever dreamed and we are honored to share our special day with all of you!

The Overland Park Convention Center was the nucleus of our day with our preparations, first-look, ceremony, and reception taking place there. We worked with Kelly Barnes at the Overland Park Convention Center for our “Moving Beyond the Basics Photography Workshop” in 2009 and had seen first hand the stunning features that create gorgeous photo opportunities.  We were blown away by the amazing staff and the photos we captured, so when we got engaged (view the video here), our first thought for a venue was there!

The day began with the ladies getting ready at the Overland Park Convention Center while the guys enjoyed a wedding day game of golf. The photographers and videographers were in full swing as the ladies buzzed with excitement in preparation for the day that was ahead! The ladies had their make-up applied by Kristen Alvarez of “Beautiful Facets” while Rachelle Spears from “Upper Echelon” styled the hair.

We knew that we wanted to have a first-look before the wedding ceremony so we could have that special moment together, just the two of us, and we could enjoy the day together with our wedding party.

After our first look, we went around Kansas City for photos and had a great time. We managed to make it back to the ceremony alive after taking a few adrenaline-filled photos on the wall at the World War I Memorial.

After the ceremony all the guests joined us inside the ballroom where we had an elegant cocktail and h'orderve reception. We had hand-rolled sushi served on beautiful ice carvings with lights projecting our wedding colors through the ice. There was a variety of options at all the action stations; from roasted lamb and gourmet mac n' cheese, to the ice cream sundae bar, and so much more! Our guests enjoyed watching the chefs prepare the food right in front of them. The digital menus that were set up at each station were another nice touch to the elegant presentation!

The Worst Is My Being Alone by Waterdeep

At dusk we enjoyed taking a moment to take some photos outside of the convention center by their signature tower that they lit up with our purple and orange wedding colors.

With our playful personalities, it was inevitable that we would not be able to resist the temptation of smashing cake into each others face... and we enjoyed every moment!

Our wedding was more amazing than we could ever have dreamed thanks to our vendors who brought our ideas to life! Austin Berke was our DJ and he did a fantastic job of keeping our ceremony and reception flowing flawlessly. Pranav Shah is an audio visual designer who flew in from New York City to created all of the special lighting for our reception! His added touch really heightened the ambiance of our reception. He used colored gels over the lights and a special uplighting with a textured effect shining around the ballroom!

Chris Wright from Ripple Effect Studio and Rich Fisher from RC Productions did an awesome job of capturing our wedding on video.  You can check out our video here.

Last, but not least, we can’t forget our incredible photographers!  BIG thanks to Ericson Studios, John Jordan Photography, and Sara Tafoya Photography for capturing our wedding so beautifully through photography!

We hope you enjoy the photos and thank you for being a part of our special day!

Boots N Bling Benefit Gala for New Horizon Ranch | Leawood Event Photographer

We have been honored to be a part of the Boots N Bling Gala Benefit for New Horizon Ranch for three years now.  With each year, the impact of the equestrian therapy program continues to grow and bring new hope to those with various physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities.  Brian and Joy Miller created this wonderful program and have put their heart and lives into investing in riders’ and their families.  It is more than a job, it is their passion; and their loving and generous hearts are at the center of New Horizon Ranch.

The Lodge at Ironwood was a beautiful venue and fit perfectly with the ranch theme of the event!  From the flower filled cowboy boot centerpieces, horse shaped cookies, and down to the old-fashioned bottled soda, guests enjoyed every moment!  Thanks to all the generous donations, the incredible volunteers, and the presence of supporters and riders, Boots N Bling was an amazing evening and a blessing to the riders at New Horizon Ranch! Carolyn Long from KCTV5 is an active part of New Horizon Ranch and led the live auction and Senator Julia Lynn was there to support NHR with her bubbly smile.  Part of the evenings festivities was a photo for all the guests to take with them at the end of the evening.  We had a great time shooting it and it was awesome to see everyone’s reactions when they got the photo as they left that evening!

Please check out New Horizon Ranch at www.newhorizonranch.org for more information about their programs and to find out how you can become a volunteer and make a difference in the lives of others!

Thank you for taking the time to experience the Boots N Bling Benefit Gala…  Enjoy the photos!
